A catalogue for The Fragility of Origins, an installation by Cornelia Wyngaarden at Western Front in 1994, exploring issues concerning women and their bodies in relation to art and historical practice and theoretical discourses. Combining video, baroque painting references, photography and text, Wyngaarden questions the open-endedness of many postmodern positions and their crises in the production of meaning at a moment when many marginalized “subjects” are emerging as “authors.” The catalogue offers colour and black and white stills from Wyngaarden's videos, essays by Brice Canyon, Susan Lord, and Scott Watson, and photographs of the installation by Chick Rice.
